Billing and Absences
Students will be billed for each week that a lesson is scheduled. There will be no charge for any lesson that the teacher cancels. Lessons cancelled by the student will be made up, if possible, providing there is advanced notice. The studio will follow the Scottsdale Unified School District’s calendar taking the same breaks that the schools do in October, December and March. Lessons will continue in the summer months with accommodations for family vacations. Music and materials are provided by the teacher, the cost of which will be itemized and added to the bill: On average about $30.00 per year.
Parents’ Roll
Parents of young students (6-9) are strongly advised to stay during lessons. Although I take great care to clearly communicate what is expected from students at home, young children cannot always initiate and follow through with good practice habits by themselves. In addition to spending time at the piano, my students learn how to get the best results through proper practice methods. During the interview, I will go into further detail as to how parents can be supportive and helpful to their children.
Interview
Before committing to lessons, I require a face-to-face interview that will benefit both of us. It is important to meet and discuss goals and expectations, but above all, get to know each other. Every student is unique and the more I learn about you or your child, the sooner we can build a successful musical path. It is particularly important to gauge the proficiency level of transfer students. Please bring all books and materials that were used in previous lessons and be prepared to play. This is not an audition, but is an assessment and will determine how we proceed and what materials will be used.
